Windows ME users:

To fix garbled sound and related sound problems under Windows ME try adjusting the QuickTime "Sound Out" settings.

To change the "Sound Out" setting:

First, enter the Windows Control Panel by clicking on 'Start' and then going to 'Settings' and then double click 'Control Panel.'
Once inside the 'Control Panel', double click the 'QuickTime' icon.
Open the QuickTime dialogue box.
From the drop down menu choose 'Sound Out.'
The 'Sound Out' options box will be active now. Change the 'Device for Playback' from 'DirectSound' to 'wave Out'.
Close the QuickTime control panel.
